MARSHALS BRIEFING: All Marshals are requested to assemble in the main arena at 08.00hrs. where you will be briefed on duties and positions. Volunteers are always needed.
RACE BRIEFING: Will be on race day at 08.30 hrs. in the main area and you are requested to take note of any safety advice as given by the race co-ordinator. There will be plenty of Marshals and signs to follow. The Race will commence at the following times:
09.00hrs. NOVICE WAVES. Please see additional information.
09.20hrs. All FEMALES.
09.30hrs. MALES in AGE GROUPS.
Sprint Distance start times will be confirmed at registration, competitors will race in their appropriate age group.

AFTER 09.30HRS ALL WAVES WILL BE AT TEN MINUTE INTERVALS. Each wave will be selected by age groups. The maximum number in any wave will be FIFTY people, so even if you are a beginner you will have plenty of space. If you miss your swim start time please see the organiser.
THE TRANSITION AREA: The transition area will be closed promptly at 08.45hrs,
(security staff will be in place from 07.00hrs) and will open 30 minutes after the last competitor has started the run. Security will be removed ten minutes after the last competitor has finished, please listen for announcement. This will be a secure area patrolled by marshals. Race competitors may enter and leave the area by the signed entry/exit only. You will be required to verify your identification i.e. number, with those on the gate. NO OTHER PERSON WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE TRANSITION AREA AT ANY TIME. EQUIPMENT MAY ONLY BE REMOVED AT THE TIME STATED, OR AT THE EXPRESS DIRECTION OF THE RACE ORGANISER OR REFEREE.
RACE NUMBERS will be issued at the
time of registration, it is the responsibility of the triathlete to make sure
these are visible at all times and must be worn at back and front.
ALL competitors are advised that BTF rules will be strictly applied. Competitors are reminded to familiarise themselves with these. In particular, competitors must wear the race numbers provided by the organisers unaltered throughout the cycling section
if using a number belt in such a way that they are clearly visible from behind. This number must be
turned to the front for the run section. Cyclists should not mount their cycles until both wheels have crossed the line marking the end of the transition area. To satisfy police requirements cyclists will be funnelled in such a way that they will exit from the water park in single file. When returning to the transition area you should dismount completely prior to the line marking the end of the cycle section. Competitors are also reminded that they must obey the normal rules of the road and obey the instructions of the marshals and the police.
Static referees will be in attendance; you are reminded of the
10 metre rule, as the course is open to other road traffic no ‘side by side’ riding
will be permitted. Everything possible has been done to ensure your safety and enjoyment of the race. For those racing for the first time and you are uncertain of anything, please contact us before the race day we will do our best to advise you. The most important thing to us is that you have a safe race, and come over the finishing line with a SMILE on your face.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL COMPETITORS TO ENSURE THEY KNOW THE ROUTE AND DISTANCES
THE SWIM: The water in the lake may be chilly at this time of year and wetsuits should be worn. The temperature will be taken prior to race start. BTF rules will apply to the use of wetsuits. You will be notified at race briefing if there is any change to the above.
CYCLES: Competitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that their cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Random checks will be made.
CYCLE HELMETS: Cycle helmets approved to Snell Foundation, BSI or ANSI Z 90.4 standard must be worn throughout the cycle section. They must be fastened before the competitor’s cycle is moved from its allotted place in the transition area, and must remain fastened until the cycle is returned to this position at the end of the cycle section of the race. Failure to do so could result in a penalty or even disqualification.
THE RUN: This will be THREE laps around the lake on grass and part hard path. Novices will complete TWO laps. Please note that if it rains you may find the conditions a bit muddy in places. We hope for dry conditions in the days before the race.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR NOVICE WAVE
On Saturday 28th June at 19.00hrs hrs
we have arranged for Novices and first timers to meet at the marquee. You will
be hosted by an experienced triathlete who will offer help and advice, and to
talk you through the route. In particular, how the transition works and how to
get the best out of the event. There is no charge for this, so do take advantage.
On the day, your Novice Host will give you your own
race briefing - be sure to meet him at 08:15hrs at the
registration area You will be shown how to
lay out your gear.
REGISTRATION: Please register at the marquee for your race numbers and start time. (Registration times are listed at the beginning of the race details)
SWIM: 09.00hrs prompt. After you have prepared your gear, your host will take you to the swim start (it may be a good idea to put on your wetsuit before assembling). Take your time and get in the water to get used to it, spread yourselves out. The klaxon will sound and you are off. Safety canoes will follow you around, if you get into difficulties lie on your back and raise an arm in the air, you will then be taken to the shore. If you are still in the water after 25 minutes, the safety boat will pick you up and return you to shore. In the unlikely event of this happening you will be given the opportunity to carry on with the rest of the race, provided you are alright and are capable of doing so. The referee’s decision will be final. Your host will be on hand to help you in transition. Please do not allow friends or family to help as this will result in disqualification.
THE CYCLE: REMEMBER to
put your CRASH HAT ON AND FASTEN PRIOR to removing your bike from the rack. Run or walk to the bike mount line. Always obey instructions from marshals and officials. Enjoy the Leicestershire countryside. Back to transition remember to keep your
CRASH HAT FASTENED UNTIL you have racked your bike.
THE RUN: The run is twice around the lake. If you feel you wish to walk a bit, do so. By this stage you may see some of the other
triathletes, (so nobody will be able to see if you are first or last in your group!). When you come over the finish line enjoy the rest of the day.
WELL DONE. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.
Our thanks to our Race Coordinator Leyshon Williams and
Referee Edwin Soar
